With Style and a Little Grace: July 2016

Natural Born Planner

I love to plan and as much as I love my digital calendar there is something so gratifying about physically checking items off my list. When Day Designer sent me their fabulous new planners - I was beyond thrilled to switch over to one that worked so well when it comes to planning out my week. I love that I get the hours for each day along with my big goals and spots to add the most important items on my list. I am mildly obsessed with washi tape and love the color that it adds to my planner. I love to highlight fun upcoming events and to see my entire week in review is my ideal.

My Planning Tips

- Sit down on Sunday evening and plan out your week
-Focus on 2-3 big items to tackle
-List in order of importance
- Don't over-do it on your list or you will never tackle them
- Write in everything you are doing - shows, meals, exercise, the more the merrier - this is the place where you want to see everything

What is your favorite part about planning? I am working on my weekly meal planning on a budget would y'all be interested in how I meal plan over a month and follow along?

Let me know and as always - thank you so much for reading!

Our Weekend + Taking Stock

Happy Monday Friends - I hope you had a great weekend and again I am officially the worst blogger ever. July has been a great month for the Johnston's but it has also been a crazy one which leaves little time for blogging. We had a really fun weekend - Friday we relaxed and had pizza delivered. Saturday we went to Breakout Mobile - if your town has this you should really check it out. It is such a fun and different activity to do on the weekend and there are tons of different themes. Then we went to dinner at Dauphin's, the new restaurant at the top of the RSA Tower and the food was INCREDIBLE - highly recommend for all you Mobile locals. A little update of what is currently on my radar

TAKING STOCK // 15

Making: Lightened up chicken salad on bagel thins with grapes and almonds - let me know if you would like the recipe - so good.

Reading: Nothing - I need a new book to get me excited about it again

Wanting: It to cool off - it is seriously stifling in Mobile right now

Watching: RHONJ, PLL, Odd Mom Out, and One Tree Hill/Charmed on Netflix totally random

Listening To: Spotify all the time - love the different stations

Drinking: Coffee and Water on repeat

Looking forward to: Finding the perfect house - going to look tonight

Trying To: Not get ahead of myself on the house hunting process or let myself get overwhelmed, also trying to work-out five nights a week and start cooking at home again - we have gotten into a bad habit of eating out all the time.

Wearing: Anything that doesn't make me hot - I literally don't want to wear jewelry at this point.

My Living Room Inspiration Board

Hi Friends! This week has been one of the best for the Johnston's drum roll please..... we are officially in the market for a house! OH MY GOSH - this is beyond exciting and honestly totally overwhelming. We are lucky in that we can take our time searching and find exactly what we want - but we are hoping it happens sooner rather than later.

Like I told you in this post - we own zero furniture and in my excitement I have really wanted to streamline my visions so I know where to start shopping once we buy. I felt like my pin boards just made me even more overwhelmed so I thought I would start doing these inspiration boards for each room - are y'all interested to see my ideas? Let me know because honestly I see tons of home decor posts in my future and it has really inspired me after a month where I could find no blog inspiration.

I really want to keep things simple and neutral in our large pieces and then bring in accents with books, lamps, paintings, and mirrors. I love the idea of a white couch but that is really the only thing Henry has an opinion on - because he feels like it will constantly be dirty because of Charlie - which I kind of understand - insert me whining about it here. But he is totally open to grey which is what I think I am learning towards. He is good with everything else as long as he has somewhere comfy to sit - oh men.

As I will literally be purchasing everything from scratch I will keep you posted - thanks as always for reading!

Good Morning Friends! I am sure by now you have been BLASTED by the crazy madness that is the upcoming Nordstrom Anniversary sale. To be honest that's because it is seriously the best sale and the time to snag those big ticket items that you have been eyeing all year long. If you are a Nordstrom Card Holder you can currently shop the sale early and if you are like me and aren't - not allowing myself another card - you can shop the sale this Thursday!

I have rounded up all the items that are on my wish-list but honestly I will either get one big item - this bag or these boots. Or I might get a few smaller wardrobe items and this for my face. Such a good time to get your Fall necessities! Happy Shopping - oh it makes me so excited!

What are you shopping for - let me know!

Buying a Home * In the somewhat near future

Happy Wednesday y'all! Since I am currently on the hunt for new inspiration I have been delving back into some of my Pinterest favorites. Henry and I are about to start dipping our toes into the process of finding a home to buy - tiny tiny beginning stages, but the ideas of curating our own home - finally after 5 years of living in a fully furnished home that isn't our own is the most exciting venture. I can't wait for all the posts I can do, progress, DIY, buying furniture since we literally own like 3 pieces of our own - the possibilities are endless. And even more exciting getting out all of our weddings gifts that are still in boxes three years later - it will literally be like Christmas Day I kid you not.

I am starting to look for furniture but I thought I would put together a list of everything that we need - it's really long because we legitimately have none.

Items I Own that need to be upgraded

My chair in bedroom needs to be recovered in something neutral

My old headboard needs to be recovered

Items to Buy

Bed Frame and Mattress + risers

End Tables

Mercury Lamps for both sides of bed

At least two more new lamps

Dining Room Table + Chairs = something I can DIY or paint for cheap is an option

Kitchen Table + Bar-Stools * depends on what house needs

Couch

Sisal Rug

Coffee Table

China Cabinet

New Bedding *hotel bedding in navy with monogram

Armoire or great chest of drawers for bedroom

Curtains

Bar Cart

Ceramic Stool

2 Wing Back Chairs

Large Painting - DIY * working on this in a few weeks

A little of my inspiration that I feel is somewhat realistic :)

June Favorites

Happy Monday y'all! I hope you had a great weekend! Ours was super relaxing with sushi and a movie date + a little house cleaning and organizing. All my favorite things rolled into one weekend, although they are never long enough. I know we are almost half-way into July but I wanted to share a few items I LOVED in June and am still loving this Summer.

Maybelline Lash Sensational // Great new drugstore mascara - really gives my lashes tons of volume

NYX Lip Liner in Nude Pink// I am loving a nude lip and this liner combined with the gloss is a gorgeous combo and doesn't break the bank

NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee// Love these butter glosses because they smell amazing and the colors are always gorgeous

Rosebud Salve // My all time favorite lip gloss to rub on every night before bed - leaves my lips silky smooth and so soft + it smells amazing

Wet Brush //  Hands down the best brush for a tangled mane - need to invest in the regular size

Flamingo Bag // Found this adorable bag randomly at CVS and am loving carrying my current beauty faves around in it - so whimsical

St. Ives Apricot Scrub // A tried and true that I should ALWAYS have in my medicine cabinet from now on - must have run out and forgotten to re-stock - this is a must have for me to exfoliate weekly and it works wonders

Cetaphil //I used to use Cetaphil in high-school and recently thought I would try it out again. It is definitely a no muss no fuss cleanser and I love how fresh and clean my skin feels after using it

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water // OBSESSED - I had not jumped on the micellar water band wagon yet but this stuff is too good to wipe your make-up off before cleansing. It gets so much off your skin

Wide Brim Hat // SOLD OUT similar here - I wore this hat for the entire month of June and am still loving it. The perfect size Summer hat

Jack Rogers Sandals // Same goes for these sandals - I knew once I got them I would wear them non-stop but I literally have worn them every single day. They are the most comfortable and versatile sandal - highly recommend them

White Denim Shorts // These Old Navy babies were around $12 and they have been on repeat. They are comfortable and an appropriate length + a little stretchy, such a good combination

Espadrilles //Top shoe purchase of the Summer right here - I can't say enough good things about them and really want a few more colors, for the under $100 price point it's really a no brainer

Off the Shoulder Dress //I kind of wish I had purchased this baby in multiple colors. It is so easy to throw on and great for this southern heat

The Weekenders // So far this has been my favorite read of the Summer. Light and breezy and it was perfect to read at Bald Head Island because it felt like it could have taken place there - if you haven't read anything by Mary Kay Andrews I recommend Savannah Breeze as well! So good!

Let me know what you are currently loving - I have the urge to do a little refresh and try some new things!

Bald Head Island Recap

Happy Saturday Strangers! This Summer has not been my most consistent blogging record but we have basically rolled all of our vacations into the month of June and early July and finally stopped to catch our breathe this weekend. It is truly the first time we have been home in over a month with nothing on the horizon and I plan on doing nothing but relaxing at home for the remainder of the summer.

I cleaned all morning and finally feel like I have a semblance of organization after a crazy busy few weeks. We had an amazing trip to Bald Head and I wanted to share some photos from our Annual Beard family vacation.

- ferry ride over to the island - new top from TJ Maxx

- after dinner ice cream treats

- the adorable house we have rented the past few years

- Beard fam just missing my brother

- Uncle John's puppy who happens to be named Gracie - isn't she adorable?

Such an amazing trip as always and I am already planning for next year - we are definitely staying the full week next time! Too much to try and pack in!

I hope y'all are having an awesome weekend - we went and saw Mike and Dave get Wedding dates and it was pretty cute. Also, the season finale of Outlander is tonight - can't wait!
