With Style and a Little Grace: May 2016

Memorial Day Weekend Recap

- Brunch in Seaside at The Great Southern

- walks along 30A

- Fresh Seafood home cooked meals with my girlies

 - a little pineapple and coconut gelato

- sweet friends who were my blog photographers for the weekend

- Dinner at 30A with all my girls

Our annual girls trip has come and gone and as always it went too quickly. We had a wonderful weekend filled with tons of catching up, fun in the sunshine, and as always a little movie night/product swap. We watched How to Be Single and it was super cute. Every year our trips get better and better and I cherish that time spent with some of my favorite ladies.

It's a short week and I am definitely getting back to healthy eating - after eating horribly all weekend long! Also I feel like I need to get better at taking well rounded photos of my trips - but I also hate bugging everyone as the crazy blog lady snapping pics 24/7 haha!

Happy Memorial Day Everyone! I hope you all had an amazing weekend at the pool, beach, backyard BBQ,  anyway that you chose to ring in the Summer and also honor all of our amazing military men and women who give their lives for our country. Outdoor DIY with Simple Honest Design

Happy Wednesday Friends! I am so excited for today's post because I got to collaborate with my girlfriend Catherine of Simple. Honest. Design.  Henry and I were over at her house a few weeks ago, which is fabulous.  She has this amazing wooden frame with a family portrait, one of many projects that she has done herself that look so professional/amazing and she always manages to do these projects on a budget - which is totally speaking my language because y'all know this girl is on a budget. She is after all a pro at landscape/exterior design work - check out her website here.

She is seriously the best at projects like this and I enlisted her help for a fun outdoor sign for my patio. She is one of the most inspiring people when it comes to interior design and landscape design and she is always teaching me ways that I can do so many amazing things in these areas. She always knows the best places to check out and her videos have some amazing tips. I have a ton of photos of the DIY  for our sign but for a step by step watch our video which I have linked below and check out her You-Tube channel here for tons more inspiration. I feel like now that I can use power tools my DIY doors are just opening wider and wider on the projects that I can take on - oh Henry will be so excited ;)

For our first sign attempt we tried it freehand and let's be honest it didn't turn out that great. I told Catherine that people don't ever let me draw on signs. :) She did let me use power tools though!

She suggested we find a font we liked and cut the letters out in tape and it worked like a charm - I mean such a huge difference and I am so in love with how it turned out!

I love our video so much - we had a blast!

Do y'all like our project? Thank you so much for reading!

Denim Shirt + White Pants

If you have been around here for awhile you know that I am a fan of a classic combo and seriously there is nothing easier to throw on and look pulled together than a great denim button-up and white jeans or pants. I love this combo, add in a fun shoe and I am sold. So simple.

These espadrilles - oh my goodness I am in love with them. They are under $100 and come in several different colors - I will be getting the other colors, especially loving the neutral option.  They are comfortable and go with everything - the most perfect Summer shoe.

Did y'all have a good weekend? Our's was so laid back - I watched The Choice and cried like a baby and we also watched The 5th Wave which I enjoyed more than I thought I would. I have a short week because I am going to the beach with my college girlfriends for Memorial Day and I can't wait!!

Thank you so much for reading!

Three on Friday

- new planner goodies from the new collaboration Day Designer is doing with Blue Sky for Target. Can't wait to try them all out!

- my Summer reading stack makes me so happy on my bedside table

- portraits of my handsome Charlie Monster - he makes me smile every single time I get home from work.

TGIF my friends! Did anyone feel like this week was a slow one? I felt like I couldn't get caught up on my sleep all week and went to bed every night at seriously 9 pm. Henry and I have been enjoying walking around our neighborhood with Charlie in the evenings and looking at all the houses for sale... we definitely have the moving itch. We are so ready.

What are y'all doing this weekend? Our's is going to be pretty relaxed, grilling out, a movie or two from Redbox, maybe a facemask. I am not going to lie it sounds pretty amazing - I'm such a homebody. My girls beach trip is Memorial Day weekend so it is nice to have a super laid back one before traveling. I also look forward to Outlander and Game of Thrones all week long - they are my favorite shows right now - anyone else?

Have a great weekend y'all and thank you so much for reading! Lots of fun posts coming next week - new Summer looks and a super tasty recipe.

A Few Snaps from our weekend at The Grand Hotel - dreaming about going back soon and doing a full spa day! If you come to town it's a must stay! Such a fun little weekend getaway.  I will be dreaming about the insanely good cheese plate at Buckey's Lounge for weeks to come and probably running it off for that long too.

Last weekend, felt like the kick-off to Summer for us and it couldn't have started any better. The steak cook-off in Fairhope on Friday night and we spent the weekend relaxing at The Grand Hotel - fruity cocktails by the pool and dinner at The Washhouse Saturday night - get the surf and turf and the keylime bread pudding! Amazing! I promise I am back to blogging full speed ahead - sorry for the sporadic posts!

The Yacht Club + Versona Giveaway

Happy Monday y'all! I wore this look during our Staycation at The Grand Hotel over the weekend and this white top has quickly become a new favorite. I visited the new Versona store last week and I am obsessed with all of their gorgeous jewelry, clothing, and accessories and the new layout of the store is sooo cute. I think it is going to be on repeat this Summer and my new tassel necklace is just the right pop of color.

We had so much fun staying at The Grand Hotel and hanging out at the pool all day on Saturday, the perfect start to the Summer Season - I didn't want it to end. We had dinner at The Washhouse on Saturday night and if you are visiting the area you have to stop in - the food and service is top notch. I am really hoping this week involves lots of early bedtimes, working out, and getting caught up on WSLG. I have my girls beach trip in two weeks and I can not wait.

Graduation Gifts

Today I have rounded up some great gifts for the high-school, college, or grad school graduates in your life. I strongly believe a great graduation gift should be a classic staple that maybe the graduate couldn't afford to get themselves or wouldn't splurge on for themselves. Something they will use for year's to come. When in doubt, money is always a great option too. Some of my favorite graduation gifts were travel bags that I used for years to come.

A Classic Jewelry Staple

David Yurman Link Bracelet - Looking back I wish I had asked for more classic statement pieces growing up so that I could have started building a collection at a young age. I think a beautiful piece of jewelry or a watch to commemorate this special time in their life is a timeless gift that they will treasure for years to come.

A Great Coffee Table Book

36 Hours USA & Canada is such a cool book and perfect for the grad ready to spread their wings and start exploring the world.

A Cool Print for their Dorm Room

Social Print Studio will print some very cool framed photos from their Instagram. A great graduation shot would make a wonderful memory.  I love when people give me framed photos.

Stationary

Monogram Stationary - Every graduate needs her own gorgeous personalized stationary. Especially after all the amazing gifts. There are so many gorgeous options on Etsy for great prices.

Travel Makeup Bag

Kate Spade Makeup Bag - the perfect bag to throw in your bookbag or tote for early morning classes.

IPad

IPad Pro- a splurgeworthy gift that any graduate would love to get.

Laptop Case

Kate Spade Laptop Case - a great case to protect your laptop traveling back and forth to class and the library.

Pajamas

J.Crew Pajamas - Super cozy pajamas that any girl would love to have.

L.L. Bean Boat and Tote Bag

LL Bean Boat and Tote Zip Bag  - the most durable and long lasting canvas bag - great for weekend travel and will hold up for so many years. Have it monogrammed.

What are you buying the grads in your life this year?
