My family and I have always had the tradition of eating breakfast casserole on Christmas morning after we open all of our gifts. It's one of my favorite traditions that Henry and I have carried into our holiday festivities. I was a little behind on my holiday prep this year so we ended up having to postpone our breakfast casserole until New Year's Day - it was still delicious.
This casserole is so yummy and just classic comfort food. It is always a great dish to take to a brunch or to make for a morning or mid-day event. This is my mom's recipe and my favorite breakfast casserole recipe I have ever tried.
BREAKFAST CASSEROLE
6 pieces of white bread cubed
6 eggs
1 cup of milk
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 lb sausage cooked
2 cups shredded cheese
1 teaspoon dry mustard
salt and pepper to taste
STEPS - Cook your sausage - mix all your ingredients in a bowl and then pour into a greased casserole dish - cover the top with cheese then tinfoil - Bake 400 degrees covered for 50 minutes and then cook last 10 uncovered
Let sit for 5 minutes and then enjoy!
