With Style and a Little Grace: January 2016

Sunday Stock // 13

OOP Ball last week

Sunday Stock

Making: trying out the Blue Apron meals this week and I am so excited. It is so difficult during the week to get everything ready for meal prep and having them send you everything that you need is kind of amazing. Let me know if you want to see a full review.

Reading: The Royal We - just started it and it is a very cute read so far - I will keep you updated.

Wanting: to go somewhere tropical - watching tons of people go on winter vacations and it has me itching to plan a trip.

Watching: Downton Abbey - the final season - insert crying face here, PLL the new flash forward is great, old episodes of Dawsons Creek and PLL which I am loving and those are currently all of my favorites. Everything else is kind of boring me right now.

Drinking: Coffee and Lemon water - probably too much coffee

Smelling: my new Jo Malone perfume that I got for Christmas - I am seriously obsessed with it.

Starting: to work-out 3 times a week again. I have been a little behind on my working out this New Year but I have to get back at it.

Wearing: My favorite J.Crew pixie pants on repeat

Listening to: Adele 25 on repeat

Trying: to really stick with my New Year's Resolutions - only a month in and I am already slacking.

Excited about The Mardi Gras season - my ball was last week and Henry's is this week. We have some friends coming to stay Saturday night and it is going to be a blast.

What is currently on your radar?

Currently Craving: Home Accents

I have talked a ton on here about how Henry and I are currently saving to purchase a house. The house that we currently live in is mainly furnished with his families old furniture and we don't have that many pieces between the two of us - our new bench, a headboard that will need to be reupholstered, a chair that will too, an old desk, Henry's favorite leather chair (ugliest chair ever) , a few pieces of art, and around 3 lamps. Needless to say, we need to start collecting a few items. My idea is to slowly start collecting pieces so that by the time we do move we will have a great start.

A few things currently on my list.

A great piece of art - loving this one so much and this cute one for my dressing room.

A clock for my bedside table.

Fiddle Leaf Fig for my living room.

Classic mercury lamp will look beautiful in our bedroom.

Garden stool - I think I need two of these.

What is on your current home wish-list? Let me know if you would like to see updates as I make some home purchases over the next few months.

Happy Monday y'all! We had a blast riding in our first parade over the weekend but it was COLD. It is going to be a frigid Mardi Gras this year.

My girlfriend gave me this adorable Ann Taylor black dress and it is seriously the perfect every day LBD. A simple black dress will go with everything and is most certainly a closet necessity. I would say you probably need a day and a night version but this cute one can be dressed up for drinks after work as well. This little leopard belt from J.Crew has also been one of my favorite purchases I made in 2015.

Here's to a great week and thank you so much for reading!

Crest 3D Whitestrips Party Ready

So reality check Spring is coming y'all and with it all of those big events that follow and you know what that means - wedding season! Our wedding schedule isn't nearly as crazy as it was a few years ago but I always try to prep myself and up my beauty routine before that time of year begins. I tend to slack a little in the harsh winter months and I start to realize I need to step up my game around this time of year.

Enter one of my favorite beauty tricks - Crest 3D Whitestrips. I first started using Whitestrips a few years ago when we got married and it made the biggest difference in the brightness of my smile.  The 3D whitestrips are seriously the best and the flexfit makes them so comfortable and the process so easy! After the holidays I knew it was time to start whitening again and I noticed such a huge difference in just two weeks of using them. I mean this is just such a no brainer to have as part of your pampering party routine and a must have for bridal beauty! And honestly, as many photos as we take these days teeth and skincare is always a top priority on my list plus double the photos at Weddings and parties. I like to bring my A+ game!

Let me know if you love using whitestrips as much as I do?

Thank you so much for reading and happy weekend!

Valentine's Day Gift Guide For Her

Happy Thursday y'all! We all know I love a good holiday to celebrate and especially a super girly one like Valentine's Day! What is not to love about all your favorite items in beautiful shades of pink and red? This Clarisonic or these red heels I am particularly eyeing for my special someone to get for me - hint hint Mr. Johnston.

Do y'all love Valentine's Day? We always go on a sushi date night to our favorite place and get fro-yo afterwards! A great movie afterwards and it's the perfect night. If you are looking for the perfect movie check out my list of my faves here.

I hope y'all are having an amazing week and thank you so much for reading!

I might have jumped the gun for the Spring and I bought this gorgeous J.Crew Tunic tonight in blue. I am so in love with it and if you like it get it before it sells out because they are going to go quickly!

Who is ready for Spring?

On My Radar

I will not lie to y'all this week has been a little insane. I am a little behind on my blogging this week and I swear I am going to be caught up after this weekend. I am loving my new job and my new schedule and Henry and I are starting to get into our routine. I thought I would fill y'all in on a few things currently happening in my world.

ONE // Reading all the books. I am trying to read all the time when I have a free minute. I just finished Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith and that series is amazing. I highly recommend. I also finished The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up and yes it is kind of intense but also a really great read to start your new year clutter free. I loved it. I just started The Royal We and it is already an adorable read. Let me know what you are reading so I can add them to my to read list.

TWO // Carpool Karaoke especially the one with Adele. I fell into a show hole and watched a ton of these the other day and I just love James Corden - he is too cute. Do yourself a favor and watch them - you will love.

THREE // Mara Hoffman Swimwear  - I am in love with everything that she has come out with - it is seriously all amazing and gorgeous and makes me want to take a tropical vacation.

FOUR // Lucite Chair - Getting this chair for my desk in the next month and I just love the look of it - thinking about getting a fun faux blanket to drape over it.

FIVE // Mardi Gras Season has descended upon Mobile with the first big parade this Thursday night. And the madness has begun

SIX //  PLL has returned and I am loving the 5 year jump and the new show Shadowhunters - did anyone else read those books? I did and I am hoping they will do better with the series than they did with the movie.

I hope your having an amazing Wednesday and thank you for reading!

Current Beauty Routine

I haven't done an updated beauty routine in a little bit and thought it was about time since I got a few new products over the holiday season. I don't use that many products on a daily basis but I am really loving everything that I am currently using. However, I am always on the hunt for the next amazing beauty product that I need to try so let me know if  you have some amazing options!

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation 820 - this is my favorite drugstore foundation that I have ever used. Currently my holy grail drugstore.

Loreal Blur Concealer - this one is on it's last leg but it gives amazingly full coverage

Ben Nye Banana Powder - the best loose powder to use and it lasts forever

Maybelline Master Contour Palette - these Maybelline palettes are so good and this contouring duo is a must have. The highlighter alone is gorgeous!

Naked 2 Palette - loving all of the gorgeous eyeshadows in this palette. They are so pigmented and gorgeous!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Kohl Kajal Eyeliner - this is THE best drugstore eyeliner. It goes on so smoothly and lasts all day.

Loreal Voluminous Mascara - A gorgeous mascara with amazing coverage and it really makes my lashes extra thick.

Great Lash Clear Mascara - I use this clear mascara to smooth out my eyebrows and I am loving the way that it looks right now.

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in Barcelona Nights - I have wanted to try these out forever and this color is just gorgeous and very nourishing.

EOS Lip Balm - currently obsessed with these in all flavors.

Tarte Lipstick - loving these little minis in beautiful neutral colors.

I hope your having an amazing week! Thank you so much for reading! Also did y'all watch the Bachelor last night? Sometimes it's so awkward to watch but I just can't stop!

Happy Monday y'all and hopefully like me you have the holiday off. I went on Fox 10 Studio 10 last week and had so much fun as always talking about my favorite trends for the 2016 season and one of my faves is definitely a great turtleneck. A turtleneck is absolutely a wardrobe staple and a great chunky knit turtleneck like this one from J.Crew is too good to pass up.

Are you a turtleneck or a chunky knits fan? Let me know and thank you for reading!

Visualization, Prayers, and Meditation

I was talking with a girlfriend the other day about the power or prayers, visualization, and the sometimes difficult task of giving it all over to God at the end of the day. We have been so blessed in the beginnings of 2016 - I have started a new job and Henry will be starting a new job next week, plans are coming to fruition and we just feel so truly blessed.

Looking back God knew exactly what he was doing and you have to say to yourself wow - because his plan is truly greater than anything you could have thought of yourself. I am a worrier by nature, constantly worrying about my family and my loved ones on a daily basis. About three years ago I really reconnected with the Lord and found how much the power of prayer helped me with my worrying. It truly lightened my burden to just give it all over to God. As my mama always says worrying is an insult to God.

This is where I really value the use of visualization and prayer combined. I find that mornings or evenings are a great time of reflection to start/end your day. It is truly amazing the things that have actually happened when I visualize it happening, put steps into action to get there, and pray for God to lead me down the right path.

If you let go and let God you will be amazed at the difference it will make in your life!

Cream Cheese and Bacon Mushrooms

My mother in law is the one who got me hooked on this amazing appetizer and these mushrooms are a serious crowd pleaser. I made them for my family during Christmas in Virginia and Henry and I made them for a party recently and everyone just loves them. The cream cheese, bacon, and hot mushrooms are perfection together. But seriously who can hate anything with cream cheese in it? Not this girl!

1 package cream cheese

Hormel Real Bacon Pieces

1 package mushrooms ( I like to use the small ones but the big ones are great too)

Garlic salt

Put your cream cheese in a bowl and heat it in microwave until soft around 20 seconds. Mix your cream cheese, bacon pieces, and garlic salt to taste. Spoon into your washed mushrooms on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes.

Enjoy them - they are so yummy!

A Chill in the Air

It has been nice and chilly the past few weeks in Mobile and I have really enjoyed it. We really didn't have a winter during Christmas so I have been savoring the chilly nights with a fire at our house.

One of my favorite outfits to put together is a skirt look with tights. I gravitate towards buying fun skirts and feel like something about them looks a little more put together than jeans, like you might have thought about your outfit a little bit more. It could just be me but I just love the style. It feels so feminine and pulled together and just a bit more out of the box than your typical jeans and blouse style. In a world where people no longer dress for occasions I find a fun skirt can be just the ticket to spice up your look.

Are you a fan of the skirt style? Let me know and thank you so much for reading!

Glam Vest

I got this black fur vest for Christmas and I don't know how I lived without it this long - I have been wearing it with everything! It is great with classic every-day styles like this look to add an extra layer and I love it with a fun dress. It just adds a little extra glam to every single look.

How is your week going? I start my new job tomorrow and can't wait to get into my new routine!

Thank you to the fabulous Jenny of Jenny Leigh Photography for the gorgeous photos!

Thank you so much for reading!

Weekend Details

- gorgeous new heels that are a belated Christmas gift from my mama - can't wait to wear

- new jewelry display that I am loving - found it on Ebay for around $6 here

Happy Monday y'all! It's a little easier to get back into the weekly grind this week and it really is so nice to be back on a normal routine and schedule. Our weekend was super uneventful and I loved every single minute of it. I watched a few movies - The man from UNCLE and Tomorrowland and didn't really love either one of them. I did however, start watching The Walking Dead and I know I am late to this game but I am HOOKED. I made it to season 3 and got super sucked in.  I am loving it but it is kind of giving me nightmares.

I am just now watching The Golden Globes today but I might do a favorite looks recap later tonight - who was your favorite?

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you have an amazing week! Be on the lookout for me on Studio 10 in the morning if you are local. I am so excited and I will be talking about fun trends for 2016 to incorporate into your wardrobe.

DIY Chanel Vase

I am seriously in love with this DIY and it literally only cost $10 and takes 5 minutes. If you are on Pinterest then you may have already seen it but I just had to try it out for myself and I think it is so adorable and super easy. Nothing beats a gorgeous Chanel vase for your office or vanity with your favorite blooms - perfection!

All it takes is a little double sided tape, scissors, the Chanel logo printable you can find here, and a cute square vase of your choosing from any Dollar Store or Michaels. Glue your Logo on your vase, fill with your favorite flowers and voila - Perfection!

I just can't get over how cute it turned out! Let me know if y'all make one!

Thank you for reading and Happy Friday!
