With Style and a Little Grace: January 2015

Stripes + Plaid

Plaid and Stripes = my new favorite combo. I have wanted to try a variation of this look ever since I saw all of this pinspiration and tons of bloggers trying it out. I might be a little late to the party but better late than never.

It feels so effortless, pulled together, and classic. Every girl needs a great black and white striped top, it wouldn't hurt to have multiple styles. The weather has been so gorgeous in Mobile - tights were definitely not necessary and I am loving it ;)

Also, I am obsessing over my new Essie polish in - Lots of Lux . It is the most brilliant blue with bits of glitter in it. Full review coming this weekend but it is so good!

T.G.I.F that's right it is Friday friends and the official start of our first Mardi Gras weekend. We are going to our first "boom boom" tonight aka parade and I am so excited because we are having a mini stay-cation this weekend.

We are riding in a parade Saturday with friends and then spending the night at The Battlehouse Hotel downtown Saturday night, my favorite hotel in Mobile and the one we stayed in during our wedding weekend. Sunday Brunch is definitely a must! If you want to follow along for all the weekend fun check me out on insta ( GracieBJohnston) for all the latest.

* Fun Fact - Nicholas Cage was staying there during our wedding filming and all of our guests kept running into him, Henry and I saw him at 4 am leaving for our honeymoon. He was somewhat friendly.

Veggie Lunch Wrap

It's Hump-day y'all! I am coming at ya today with a delicious new lunch idea! I have the hardest time coming up with different things to eat for lunch, I feel like it's the most difficult meal to find variety with, anybody else? I was getting really bored of all my regular lunches   (turkey sammies and salads) and since I am back on my health kick I wanted to add something healthy, delicious, and meatless into my rotation, I am trying to only eat one meal with meat a day - enter the veggie wrap!

I looked on Pinterest for all the different options and just kind of mixed up some yummy veggies, spinach and hummus and it is tasty! I also added feta yesterday and that was great too!  I found this yummy flatbread in the sundried tomato and it is so good y'all!

Hummus your bread, throw in all your veggies, a little salt and pepper, wrap and enjoy!

What are your favorite things to eat for lunch?

Thank you so much for reading and let me know if you try this out and what you might add!

Aqua

We took these pics on casual Sunday and the wind was whipping. As you can probably tell I am absolutely loving these ripped jeans and my short booties - they have been on serious repeat recently. While we are not having Snowmageddon here in Mobile, I do feel for you folks in the East. Stay warm friends!

I have so many pinspiration outfits that I want to try my own spin on, so expect lots of new looks coming your way. I plan on making everything super budget friendly ( because I am a girl on a serious budget)!  There are several staples I want to add to switch things up, I have a post of those coming soon. What are some items that you know you need in your wardrobe but when it comes down to it you always think of something more fun (rather than practical) to purchase? Anyone but me?

DIY: Valentine's Mason Jars

I know y'all it is not even February yet, but it is never too early to add a little flair for a fun Holiday, no? I think yes, always yes. Since I live in Mobile and we are in full Mardi Gras mode I should probably have some of that decor happening but honestly besides a wreath on my door I have no Mardi Gras flair to speak of, I know it is a sacrilege. There is always next year.

So I have moved on to Valentine's Day and when I saw this adorable DIY I knew I had to make it. I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up 3 mason jars, acrylic paint, and a brush. I painted, let them dry, and added some pretty flowers.

There are you have it! An adorable Valentine's Day display for my mantle!

It was such a cheap and easy project and a fun way to add a little Valentine's into your home.
I love a good DIY so let me know if y'all like these kinds of posts!

Ulta Haul

I told y'all I did a little shopping at Ulta last weekend after my new haircut and I am super excited about the products I picked up. I have been without a straightener for maybe 2 years now which is pretty bad. My Chi lasted around ten years and finally crapped out on me and I never got around to replacing it. With the new shorter do' the time was upon me.

I picked up the Chi Ultra CHI in the super fun sparkling Rose and I am mildly obsessed with it. I thought about trying a new brand but these are currently on sale and Chi products are great quality.

I told y'all about the terrible mascara I picked up in my drugstore haul so I decided to try the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes that everyone is raving about and OMG y'all so far my favorite mascara of the year. It goes on so smoothly and makes my lashes look so long.

Naked Lip Gloss in the shade Naked. I love my Naked Palette so I thought I would give these neutral glosses a try. The gloss is perfect for everyday and the packaging is gorgeous. The texture is so creamy and the pigmentation is great. I am definitely going to try out more colors.

One of my girlfriends wears this perfume and every single time I am around her I remember how much I like it. I decided to pick up the Eau de toilette pen spray to make sure I loved it enough, before I purchased the giant bottle and I have worn it every single day. I absolutely love the gorgeous perfume bottle and have added it to my wish list.

I hope everyone has fun plans for the weekend! We are kicking off the Mardi Gras season with open house for my organization on Sunday. I am looking forward to it. It has been a stressful week, lots of changes happening, lots of good things, but it can also be overwhelming to not know exactly what the future looks like. I am trying to trust that everything will work out the way God intends. I need to learn to worry less like my mom says, "Worrying is an insult to God". I am putting it in his capable hands.

Thank y'all so much for reading! I would really love it if you could take a minute to follow on Google Friend Connect, so I can get an idea of who is reading :)!
