With Style and a Little Grace: September 2012

Game Day Outfit Inspiration

Henry and I are headed to our Alma Mater this weekend to take in the Alabama vs. Ole Miss game, celebrate his Birthday, and catch up with good friends that we haven't seen in awhile. I was a sorority girl during my college years and when it comes to football games in Tuscaloosa dressing for the games is an art form. Dresses, heels, and cute dates are all requirements before the game starts! Since I am no longer in college ( enter sad face ) I tend to steer more towards cuteness plus comfort these days! Here is a bit of inspiration for my game-day outfit this Saturday!!

Game Day Outfit Inspiration

Happy Thursday Ladies!

Wedding Wednesday ( Currently Loving)

We have some serious planning coming up for our wedding beginning October 1st! We have taken a little mini-break to look at all the details but we are going to start booking again in October. The caterer, photographer, engagement pics in November ( EEEKK), flower arrangements, invitations.... etc. The big guns are getting pulled out!

I have been toying with the idea of having Charlie ( our yellow lab) be involved in the wedding. He is a member of our family, after all! He is going to be in our engagement pictures but he can be a little rambunctious so I am not sure how well he would do on the actual wedding day (especially with someone other than me and Henry). If you know of any fun ways to involve him, please let me know! These precious pictures make me want to do it even more!

So Sweet!!

Adoring this sweet kiss photo-op:

Thought this was a cute idea for the groomsmen before the wedding:

This precious gift for the mother of the Bride:

Currently ordering these via Etsy to eat our cake!

TV Tuesday (TV Fall Lineup 2012)

Hi Ladies,
We have had more internet malfunctions at the Johnston-Beard residence the past couple of days to explain my little bit of an absence. We are currently in the process of receiving a new television that involves some new fancy schmancy internet connected with it ( not really sure... I leave all that to Hank)! Getting back to the weekly grind after a nice relaxing weekend!! I don't know about ya'll but I can't wait for the new fall line-up every year and this one is no exception. I have decided to add TV Tuesday to this little blog lineup. I will let you in on the new shows that I am tuning into and some oldies that are returning.

This week the CBS lineup started it off with several of my favorites:

How I met your Mother - Monday 6/7 central CBS

This is the last season for this hilarious show. I mean Barney.. come on you can't beat it!  It will finally be revealed to us who Teds future wife is. Hank and I still think that it could be Robin? I am not sure!! I adore this show, its hilarious and always keeps you guessing. I am very interested to see how they tie up everything in the end! A definite must watch!

Partners 6:30/7:30 Central CBS

This is the newcomer on the block for the Monday CBS line-up. Partners features best-friends since childhood (one gay and one straight). If the first episode is any indicator.. then this show is hilarious! Very quick witted, fast paced, and of course I love me some Sophia Bush!!

2 Broke Girls 7/8 Central CBS Monday

Kat Dennings makes this show!! It can be so inappropriate and funny at the same time! The cast of characters together is so funny. You should definitely tune in.

More premieres on my to-do list this week
Big Bang Theory
Elementary (NEW)
New Girl
The Mindy Project (NEW)
Modern Family
The Neighbors (NEW)
Once Upon a Time
666 Park Ave (NEW)

So as you can tell my DVR is going to be packed! It will probably dwindle down in the weeks to come but I like to start it off with high hopes.

In other news,
Henrys birthday is this weekend so we will be heading to t-town to celebrate at the Bama vs.Ole Miss game. So excited and I am on the hunt for the perfect game-day outfit (coming Thursday).

Happy Tuesday and thank you for reading!

Finally Fall

I stepped outside this morning to a crispness in the air. Excitement welled inside me as I thought of scarves, jackets, boots, pumpkin spice lattes, mulled cider, pumpkin candles, Halloween, chili, pumpkin carving.. the list goes on and on.  This has always been my absolute favorite time of the year. I think that I will always feel like the new year starts with the school season beginning. Crispness in the air, changing leaves.... it brings with it a nostalgia. It takes you back to high school pep rallies and football games on fridays, sipping hot cocoa in the stands. I am originally from north alabama and the toughest thing for me moving to Mobile was getting used to the fact that this town doesn't have much of a fall. I am learning to savor the days like today and take every moment and enjoy it.

With the first official day of fall approaching this saturday, I have decided to take a cue from my fellow bloggers and make a to-do list of sorts for the Fall. You can see my summer post here

Style Crush Olivia Palermo

I was recently pinning my little heart away when I realized that there is one socialite whose style I am always looking to emulate.... Olivia Palermo. I don't think I am the only lady out there that idealizes her perfect, always on point, always put together style. I am not saying that OP and I would be besties, because I honestly think her personality seems to be seriously lacking in the fun and friendly category (not on my list to be stuck in an elevator with) ... but a definite closet raid anytime!!!!

So fabulous! Makes me want to revamp
my whole wardrobe.

Weekend Update

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Ours was just what I needed with lots of relaxing and maybe a little pampering. Saturday I had my first hair appointment in far too long to say. I decided to go with a bit of the light brown ombre color. I went to a new stylist and I'm thinking about trying her for our engagement pictures in November.

Please disregard my scary no makeup face.

Leopard flats made it into the rotation all weekend long!
I finally got to make this recipe for a game day appetizer, it has been on my list for awhile now. I was kind of disappointed in my version and think I might need to add more mozzarella next time. I also made my sausage balls and they were gone before I could even get a picture.

We watched Alabama serve up a massive beating and ate lots of naughty appetizers, complete with some toll house cookies. On Sunday Henry and I headed to Mass, then to our favorite Chinese restaurant (slowly becoming our Sunday tradition), then we did a little shopping... browsing around town like elderly people out for a Sunday stroll. I didn't take many pictures because it really wasn't that eventful but it was so nice to spend some quality time together!!

Happy Monday ladies!

Friday Five

My favorite Christmas present (leopard loafers) from last year are finally getting put to good use. Mine are Steve Madden last year.  Similar pair here

I was craving some chocolate this week and
allowed myself some Dove. The dark chocolate is delicious
and the sayings are cute too!

Pumpkin Spice latte is back at Starbucks which, unfortunately
for my wallet is right next to my work.

The Charlie Monster is always a plus.

This  top might be making its way to my house soon.

A little giggle for your Friday from one of my favorite shows.

Big plans this weekend include doing a few house projects, football, and relaxing
Take it easy ladies and thank you for reading!

Wedding Wednesday (Our Engagement Story)

I  hope everyone is having a great Wednesday! Our weather has been gorgeous and crisp in Mobile all week and it has me throwing on booties and fall layers, only to shed them at the end of the day... but still its a start (we southerners will take what we can get). I am feeling nostalgic with fall and football season beginning so this Wednesday seems the best to clue y'all in on how Henry and I started on our journey to the altar. Since I am new to the blogging world I have to go back to the beginning.

Our relationship began almost nine years ago when I was a freshman and he was a senior at Alabama. I met him at his fraternity house before a football game. I was there as one of my guy friends date and he was there with his then girlfriend, my guy friends cousin and my sorority sister (have I lost you already). Little did we know that over the next five years we would constantly be thrown into the same social situations and always be running into each other. Fast forward to my last year at Alabama, 2008, football season again, tailgating with Henry. We started dating that year and have been together ever since. I am thankful everyday for the way the God brought him into my life.

Fast forward to April 21, 2012

Henry took me to the river to spend the weekend at his parents river house under the pretense that we were house sitting and watching their dogs, while they were away with their church. Friday night we cooked, enjoyed the deck, and just general relaxing. Saturday morning we got up relatively early and Henry suggested we take a boat ride over to The Pelican reef and get a little lunch and enjoy the water. I was very excited about this idea even though it was a little overcast, outside time on the water sounded good to me. We went over to the Pelican reef and enjoyed some seafood, had a beer, and started moseying our way home. Henry suggested I turn my phone off so we could spend some quality time together ( I obliged and thought this was so sweet not suspecting anything, I would make a terrible detective).

About half-way home he asked me what was out in front of the boat blocking our way. I told him nothing he was crazy and went up to inspect. When I turned around to tell him I was right -  he was on one knee!!!!!! He asked me to marry him and I of course said YES!!!! At this point we are both sobbing and he tells me I have one more surprise. As we round the corner to the river house all of our friends and family are on the dock waiting for us to arrive! We had a huge crawfish boil and engagement party! It was the most perfect day I have ever had!

I am so lucky to have him and I can't wait to marry him on June 8th!

Happy Wednesday and thank you for reading!
