With Style and a Little Grace: June 2012

Absence makes the heart grow fonder...

I am back from Bald Head Island and I am in the midst of job training. I will be back next week with regularly scheduled posts.

Have a lovely weekend!

I haven't been this happy to see Friday in a long time! Leaving bright and early for our trip tomorrow and there is still a ton to accomplish, which is always how it happens! We did manage to get the lodged DVD out of my Mac (had been there for a month), after about 12 calls to apple from Henry and I combined! Sorry Michael and Brian and whomever else we harassed. I think one guy actually sent our call to radioshack.

But whats a girl to do? Henry can't sleep without some Entourage dvds on a trip and I definitely need my sleep.

Little random side note.... I watched the RHOC last night and I totally agreed with Heather and the girls on the issue of Sara eating the bow on her cake. (how dare she its like a wedding after all) ..... that being said boozy Sara needs to get outta here and take Alexis with her! Oh and how come Gina always shows up on the last episode of every season and didn't her daughter get really pretty! Can't wait for the finale next week! I believe this and Beverly Hills are my faves in the franchise - NY is a bit dull.
This is the only picture I could get in the right format. At this point I believe shes thinking
"this ***** is going to forget to put the black stand under my cake and drunk sara is going to
eat the bow" HOW DARE SHE" Sorry I wanted the confrontation pic but I am still a bit
challenged on the computer.

I started doing my research on Wedding bands and photographers today. I am going to start doing a Wedding Wednesday when I get back so I can lay out all of our wedding plans for y'all. I am a little OCD so I like to do a lot of research..... like a lot.  So maybe I can get some structure to my posts because right now they are kind of all over the place and super random.

So we are off for the week to Bald Head and I will resume my blogging on thursday for anyone following along (which I believe is no one). Lots of fun pics from Bald Head and I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend and week! Some pretty pics to leave y'all with below. I'm off to eat lots of naughty food at my going away party with the office!

Thirsty Thursday, an OOTD and some cobbler

Yesterday I went to Jimmy Lowes the local fruit stand in Mobile and went a little crazy on the summer veggies. I don't know about y'all, but I love Summer fruits and veggies! I left with all the makings of our Summer Solstice dinner... fresh corn on the cob, baked potatoes, BBQ chicken, fresh tomatoes (I may or may not have eaten two whole tomatoes before dinner, they were delicious).
After dinner I made my first peach cobbler with this recipe. It is super easy and delicious! I highly recommend it.

The peeling process does take a little while.

Had a little spill-over in the oven

Finished product.. only lasted a few min Hank really enjoyed it!

I wanted to make these cocktails, but I was missing some ingredients so I stuck with my wine! I have made them before and they are very refreshing! You can't go wrong with anything out of Southern Living in my opinion.

A little montage of happenings

My Wednesday outfit (We are in process of getting new carpet and painting so please disregard) (F21 Chambray shirt tied at waist, dress Anthropologie, shoes local boutique), abundance of local peaches at the market, and my new JCREW shorts finally arrived obsessed!)

I really need this blush in my life. I love the bright pink color for summer.

And I am trying to find somewhere locally that has these great Emi-Jay hair ties, but I think I am just going to have to order them online. For some reason my hair ties have stopped holding my hair up. I don't know if my hair is getting thinner or what but I would love to try these out!

Hope yall are having a great Thursday! Have a cocktail tonight to beat this heat and as always thank you for reading!

Lust List, Summertime, and some reality tv

Its summer ladies! Don't you just love that feeling. I want sand, water, and the smell of sunscreen mixed with it all after a long day at the beach! Check out these gorgeous Vogue pictures on the look back summer slideshow here

Aren't they gorgeous! So feminine!

So excited that the week is half-way over. My DVR is so full and I haven't caught up on any of my trashy television. I did catch the RHONJ last night and have solidified my feelings that Theresa is cray cray....

I also watched the Oprah special on the Kardashians and once again was sucked into their family.. I will definitely be recording the second half next Sunday.
Anyway, things I am currently lusting over this week.
This house I die!

These adorable white dresses for wedding events

These shoes that have been making the rounds. I have seen them on a ton of bloggers but I must make them mine.

This Book that my girlfriends gave me to read and I am finally going to have the time to finish it on our trip. If you have not read Cassandra King you definitely need to start. She is a southern writer and the book takes place on Dauphin Island, which is right next to where we live. It is also about a group of college girlfriends that get together twice a year and really makes me think of my ladies!

Transition Tuesday

So this week is proving to be very chaotic in our neck of the woods. The transition title seems very fitting. I am starting a new job in two weeks(very excited about this new venture), finishing up everything at my current job (last day is Friday), and packing for our much anticipated trip with my family on Saturday to Bald Head Island, NC. The timing couldn't have worked out better, but we are running around like chickens with our heads cut off this week trying to get last minute projects finished.
Happenings around our house ....

Hank has proclaimed himself addicted to this summer drink he randomly found at the store and is now all about making homemade Arnold Palmers! I think the cans are pretty cool.

I may or may not have purchased these adorable shorts for my trip.

I am so ready for our vacation.... I can hear it calling my name! It is one of my favorite places in the world and we go every year. Cannot wait!

We will be doing a little of this...

And a lot of this.. Cocktails and sun bathing

Happy Tuesday and Thank you for reading!

Getting to know me

This will be my first post on my blog that I started playing around with in April. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gracie. I am an Alabama Grad (Roll Tide), newly engaged southern lady! I am still learning my way around the blog world and I hope you take the time to get to know me!

I have been a viewer of the blogging world for some time now and have been thinking about starting my own for equally as long! I so enjoy starting my computer up in the morning, getting my coffee, and with the click of a mouse being immersed in beautiful homes, strappy sandals, and the latest hilarious reality TV drama!  I enjoy that little window where people welcome you in and give you a (albeit very pretty) glimpse of their lives. So this blog is going to be a glimpse into my life and my take on fashion, beauty, food, DIY, home d├ęcor, and some definite wedding planning thrown in there!

OK, so here are the characters that you will probably be getting to know
        The Fiance Henry

The Monster AKA Charlie
Our fur baby
Aren't my boys adorable!! We reside in Mobile, Alabama. I'm a Southern Girl born and bred. Hope y'all enjoy my daily dose of southern hospitality!

I would love for you to grab a cup of coffee or tea and hang out with us!
